Basic Scrambled Tofu

I love a good tofu scramble, but sometimes…I just don’t want all the mushrooms and spinach and tomatoes…I turn into a 6 year old kid and just want it plain!

This is my basic scrambled tofu recipe. It doesn’t have any bells or whistles, its just straightforward… scrambled tofu.

I’ll make this recipe anytime we’re having pancakes or waffles, or any other sweet centered breakfast, and I want to have something more neutral, like classic scrambled eggs, to eat alongside with it.

Its also great to put in breakfast burritos. I love to layer hummus, scrambled tofu, beans, and hot sauce. My favorite is Tapatio!

Basic Scrambled Tofu

Ingredients:

1- 14 oz package firm tofu, drained

*if you don’t have extra firm, just press the tofu for 10-15 minutes

1 Tablespoon vegetable oil

3/4  teaspoons nutritional yeast

1/2 teaspoon turmeric

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

¼  teaspoon Kala Namak salt

¼ teaspoon salt

Procedure:

Heat oil in large pan, crumble tofu with hands into pan in wide layer. Sprinkle yeast and seasonings on tofu. Stir to mix tofu and seasonings.

Lower heat to low and cook, turning every couple of minutes to allow excess water to evaporate. Approximately 5-8 minutes

Adjust seasonings, and serve.
